The Friendly BenchⓇ comes to Bury, Manchester

Updated: Jun 14, 2021

On 17th March we were very proud to officially handover our latest The Friendly BenchⓇ to the Corrie Gardeners Community Group thanks to players and funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Working with Corrie Gardeners Community Group, a dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly to support and improve the lives of those in their community, The Friendly BenchⓇ has been installed right in the heart of Coronations Gardens, Radcliffe, Bury where it will bring people of all ages and backgrounds together, including children and older members of the community, all of who live within walking distance of it.

Tina Harrison of Corrie Gardeners said, “We are so thrilled to be joining The Friendly Bench network. All that it stands for fits in with our ethos of getting people together and socialising.”

As with all of our The Friendly BenchⓇ, not only is it a beautiful place to sit, The Friendly BenchⓇ Bury will be an active social hub where people across the community will meet, take part in activities together, share skills and make friends, it will be a truly vibrant community hub.

Lyndsey said, "We are thrilled to welcome Corrie Gardeners to The Friendly Bench network. From our very first meeting we were in awe of all of the brilliant work Corrie Gardeners did to support their fellow residents, now with The Friendly Bench installed in the heart of their community we know they will be able to reach more people, make new and stronger connections and it will be a place of friendship and happiness for all to enjoy.”

This The Friendly Bench has been made possible thanks to players of the National Lottery and is one of 10 The Friendly Benches supported by The National Lottery Community Fund which are being installed across the England this year and next, including Chester, Rugby, Rotherham and Halesowen to name a few.
