Our second The Friendly Bench arrives in Cheshire as Northwich Town Council joins our network

We are thrilled to announce that our second The Friendly Bench has officially opened in Northwich, Cheshire, and we have welcomed Northwich Town Council to our growing The Friendly Bench Network.

Our latest The Friendly Bench is located in the heart of the stunning Vickersway Park and will provide a space for people of all ages and abilities to come together, socialise, participate in activities and events, and build positive friendships, all aimed at improving health and wellbeing. Northwich Town Council will lead The Friendly Bench Northwich in partnership with Northwich Care Community and various local organizations, including mental health support groups, care services, schools, and parent groups. Together, they aim to create a welcoming and supportive community that nurtures and grows positive relationships.

On a very sunny Friday 2nd June Members of Northwich Town Council officially declared The Friendly Bench Northwich open alongside Northwich Care Community, Northwich BID and fellow The Friendly Bench Network Members, Morag and Andy Scargill representing The Friendly Bench Chester.

Chris Shaw, Town Clerk for Northwich Town Council and The Friendly Bench Northwich lead, expressed his excitement about the new addition, stating, "The Friendly Bench is a wonderful initiative that aims to create a sense of community and connection among individuals in a local neighbourhood or community. It is essentially a public outdoor meeting space designed to promote social interaction, inclusivity, and support for those who may be feeling lonely, isolated, or in need of someone to talk to. Northwich Town Council is very pleased to have one in Vickersway Park."
